Balluff spends the day in Science Class at Scott County Middle School
Florence, KY (PRWEB) November 24, 2015 -- Balluff recently visited Scott County Middle School in Georgetown, Kentucky and surprised over 200 students with hands-on sensor applications during their science class.
Kelli Lee and Kate Wilson, Scott Co. Middle School Science Teachers, organized this event with the help of Brian Hedges, Training Manager at Balluff and Joe Poehlmann, Technical Trainer.
Hedges and Poehlmann spent two days at Scott Co. and set up several different hands-on labs designed to educate students on different types of sensors and how they are used in real world applications. They also talked about the concepts of light, sound, electromagnetic, and ultrasonic waves and how they are used in sensor technologies.
Lee stated, "Priceless resources! The students loved to see the applications in action and the hands-on Balluff training has been a valuable part of their education."
"It has been great for the kids to see real world applications and experience it first hand in their classroom. I think this training class has sparked some interests in future career choices," commented Wilson.
Several students shared comments about their experience: "Learning about the UV with Mr. Joe was my favorite because the glasses were cool". Another student said, "The best part of the class was learning about electromagnetic waves with Mr. Hedges because the Smartlights are awesome!"
Balluff supports several science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) initiatives for students in the local community and participates in National Manufacturing Day and TECHFIT (Teaching Engineering Concepts to Harness Future Innovators and Technologists) programs. Balluff also supports educational opportunities with their student co-op programs, partnering with several local colleges and universities.
